This House Built on Sand

He's Coming Down

Always out for love

Produced by Bernie Clarke,

iD001, Arcadia Records, 1984

The Style Council had a lot to answer for. The Imps go Long Hot Summer. After Spin, it's a bit gentle, particularly for 1984, when it was all Frankie and Blue Monday. However, "This House" sounds well crafted, and all three songs are well sung by Caroline, who by now had moved forward to become the lead vocalist.

He's Coming Down is a little contrived - the 80s Jarrow March - but is still absorbing. Always Out For Love is pretty and mournful, but just falls short somewhere. But that cover, and those haircuts...
well, you could tell it was the 1980s.
